Jim Mains was born in 1976 in Vancouver, Washington.
Jim’s fathers’ family has lived in Vancouver since the 1940’s. His mother was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Jim graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes School (1991), Hudson’s Bay High School (1995) and Clark College (1997). Jim returned to college in 2000 for religious studies and child psychology.
Jim has been active in his church since he was 12 years old. While in high school he founded JR Ministries, a children’s ministry. Jim was also a member of Key Club, honor roll, the Writers Guild, and Christian Northwest.
Hired as a youth minister at the age of 20 Jim was the youngest Catholic minister in the Northwest. In eight short years he developed the largest Catholic/Christian outreach in the Vancouver area. In 2000 he co-founded a community service program and was a director for a leadership camp in Yamhill, OR.
As a certified Peer Mediator, Jim trains young adults in crisis management, health and life choices. Known for his inspirational messages Jim speaks at various churches and schools and has been interviewed on numerous radio shows throughout the country about teen issues. He is credited nationally for the 9-11 Tribute Field that drew attention from Fox News, ABC, local and national newspapers and accolades on the O’ Reilly Factor and NWCN. Over 20,000 people visited the field in 2002 to remember the lives lost on that tragic day.
In 2003 Jim became a religion teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes School. Over the next 3 years he also consulted with Christian and non-denominational churches in Youth Ministry development. Today he continues to consult while finishing his first two books that will be available later this year.
Jim married his sweetheart Cecilia in June 2008. Together with a passion to serve, they started a new venture in 2009: Main Distinction, offering consulting, public relations and marketing management.
In addition to Main Distinction, Cecilia is an office manager at Clark College and personal assistant for the Lynch family, and Jim is an instructor with 4:CAST in Vancouver, WA, hosting a weekly seminar for those that are looking to improve their lives by offering tools in communication, attitude and addiction recovery. Jim is also the co-director of a new non-profit organization in Clark County, Navigation Point.
Navigation Point’s mission is to create access within communities to identify and support successful educational programs which serve socio-economically challenged adults. It was established with the purpose of funding job creation and educational programs that improve lives by focusing on the value of educational freedom, personal achievement, job skills and responsibility of citizenship (R:NP09).
When he finds free time, Jim enjoys basketball, disc golf, traveling with his wife, reading and trying to stay in shape on Wii Fit. He also volunteers with church programs and community events.
“Inspiring others is a passion for me. Not your car-salesmen type of inspiration, but an honest, straight talk motivation. People need to know they are worthy of anything they set their heart and mind to. I just want to be there to guide them along the path they choose.” |
